(July 8, 2012)--Lumps were in a lot of throats during an emotional final day at the All England Club. But while some couldn't speak, many others did a wonderful job of putting things into perspective. Here are some of the best  tweets and quotes from the Wimbledon final between Roger Federer and Andy Murray.

“Hats off to Murray for a great fight. But we saw why Fed is the GOAT.” -- Tiger Woods, via Twitter.

"He's not bad for a 30-year-old." -- Andy Murray, commenting on Federer jokingly, in his post-match speech.

“I’m done doubting Federer -- I didn’t think he’d get back to No. 1.” -- Patrick McEnroe, finally joining the club, when asked by Chris Fowler if he thought Federer had an 8th or 9th Wimbledon in him.

"Had to offer a male Federer fan a Kleenex during Murray's speech." -- Bobby Chintipalli, tennis writer, via Twitter.

"He's like Twinkle Toes out there. It's like he's floating. He barely hits the court. I guess that's why he's played 51 majors in a row." John McEnroe, in awe of Federer's footwork.

"And he still hasn't broken a sweat. It's amazing how calm he is out there." -- Patrick McEnroe, at 5-3 in set 4.

“All I know is I had tears in my eyes,” -- John McEnroe, echoing the sentiments of pretty much every tennis fan, after Andy Murray and Roger Federer had addressed the Wimbledon crowd.

"I want to give Andy Murray a hug." -- Tennis Served Fresh, via Twitter

"Murray bruised and ultimately broken in a marathon game." -- Chris Fowler, after Murray was broken in the longest game of the match, giving Federer a 4-2 lead in set three.

“Connors loved to fight, Sampras loved to win. But this guy loves it all. He loves everything about it.” -- Patrick McEnroe, commenting on Roger Federer’s love of the game during the awards ceremony.

"Who's the 30-year-old?" -- John McEnroe, as Murray started to show some fatigue at 2-2 in set 4.

"I'm getting closer." -- A very emotional Andy Murray, to the Wimbledon crowd, after failing to come through in a Grand Slam final for the fourth consecutive time.

Tim Henman is using words like "sumptuous" and "delicious" to describe some Fed shots. Boris says it's "his genius coming out" -- Stephanie Myles, of the Montreal Gazette, via Twitter

"I didn't read the papers to be quite honest.” -- Roger Federer, when talking about the pressure that Andy Murray must have been going through, during his post-match speech.

"Age has done nothing to diminish RF's variety; it's enabled (forced?) him to go deeper into the bag of tricks. Today=Jordan shooting jumpers." -- Jon Wertheim, Sports Illustrated

"Players who lost their first four Grand Slam finals: Kim Clijsters, Ivan Lendl. That's it. Hard not to want to buy Murray stock right now." -- Ben Rothenberg, New York Times Tennis Blogger, via Twitter

"Wow, congrats to Federer, but Andy Murray just won over UK and most of the world. Total class, charm, and grace. He will win Slams." -- Justin Gimelstob, via Twitter.

"I feel like I'm in Niagara Falls right now." -- John McEnroe, commenting on the heavy rainfall (not the tears of agony and joy that would later be shed) pelting the Centre Court Roof at 2-1 in set 3.
