(February 6th, 2012) The fallout between ex-coach Ricardo Sanchez and his former employers Caroline Wozniacki and her father Pitor heated up again with the outspoken Sanchez giving his side of the split with the former No. 1 player in comments made to Spanish sports daily Marca.
Sanchez, who worked with Wozniacki for only two months until being dumped after her quarterfinal loss at the Australian Open to Kim Clijsters which cost the Dane her top ranking, said that he felt deceived by Wozniacki's father into thinking he would be allowed free reign in coaching Wozniacki but was instead "pushed into the background". Even though Sanchez describes the early days as "happy", Sanchez felt like he never fit in with the close relationship between the Wozniackis, describing it as "a block of ice that could not be broken."
Despite the parting of their ways, Sanchez said he thought Wozniacki could reclaim her No. 1 ranking and win a Grand Slam if she played more aggressively like other pros such as Victoria Azarenka or Petra Kvitova. As he put it, "Wozniacki should be a race horse and not a burden."
