 James Waterson reports on the weekend’s action for Tennis Now. Andy Murray routed Donald Young 6-2, 6-0 to win the PTT Thailand Open in Bangkok. Despite the loss in what was his first ATP Tour final, Young moved into the top 50 for the first time in his career. Meanwhile, Janko Tipsarevic won his first ATP Tour title in Malaysia, and Agnieszka Radwanska won her second title of the year when she beat Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2 at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. Finally the top players are back at it at the China Open in Beijing and the Rakuten Japan Tennis Open in Tokyo. Kevin Anderson beat Andy Roddick in the first round in China Monday, while Mardy Fish outlasted Ryan Harrison in Tokyo.

 Andy Murray came back from one set down to defeat long-time nemesis Rafael Nadal 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 in the finals of the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo Sunday. Tomas Berdych staged a comeback of his own in the final of the China Open when he beat Marin Cilic 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Agnieszka Radwanska boosted her chances for qualification to the WTA’s year-end championships in Istanbul when she outlasted Andrea Petkovic in three sets in the China Open women’s final. This week, the top players try to pick up valuable ranking points at the Masters Series tournament in Shanghai, while Samantha Stosur and Petra Kvitova are the top seeds in Osaka, Japan, and Linz, Austria.

Three World Tour Finals hopefuls, Mardy Fish, Tomas Berdych and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, lost early as well. Meanwhile, Samantha Stosur and Petra Kvitova are still in the running for the titles in Osaka, Japan and Linz, Austria. Finally, Serena Williams announced she will play mixed doubles with Andy Roddick at the Australian Open.

James Waterson reports last weekend’s tennis news. Andy Murray defeated David Ferrer 7-5, 6-4 to win the Shanghai Rolex Masters, his third title within the last month. The victory moved Murray up to No. 3, bumping Roger Federer out of the top three for the first time since June of 2003. Meanwhile, Kei Nishikori became the highest ranked Japanese male tennis player in Open Era history, and Petra Kvitova won her first title since Wimbledon in Linz, Austria.

James Waterson reports on the latest tennis news for Tennis Now. Ken Meyerson, Andy Roddick’s long-time agent, passed away in his home in Florida Wednesday night at the age of 48. Meyerson was the president of Lagardere Unlimited’s tennis division, and he also represented Gael Monfils, the Radwanska sisters and Justine Henin. Meanwhile, Agnieszka Radwanska qualified for the WTA’s year-end championships after Marion Bartoli, her contender for the final spot, withdrew from the Kremlin Cup because of a viral illness. Finally, the US Open is considering permanently scheduling the men’s final on Monday to give the players a day off between the semifinals and finals.

Caroline Wozniacki and Maria Sharapova lead their respective groups at the WTA’s year-end championships, and there are some interesting match-ups in store. Janko Tipsarevic beat Viktor Troicki in the ATP’s first all-Serbian final in Moscow, and the win moved him up to No. 10 in the race for the ATP World Tour Finals. The WTA announced player participation increased 24 percent while withdrawal rates decreased 18 percent

Petra Kvitova, Vera Zvonareva, Victoria Azarenka and Samantha Stosur advanced to the semifinals of the year-end WTA Championships on Friday. Marat Safin announced on Thursday he is running for Russia’s parliament, and Alex Bogomolov Jr., the fourth highest-ranked American, said he wants to play Davis Cup for Russia. Finally, Caroline Wozniacki and others have complained about grunting in the women’s game, resuming a conversation that has been going on since Monica Seles played in the 1990s.

James Waterson reports the weekend’s tennis news. Petra Kvitova triumphed over Victoria Azarenka in three sets to win the WTA Championships in Istanbul on Sunday, her sixth title of the year. The win secured the No. 2 ranking for Kvitova, as well as a check for $1.75 million. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and the Bryan Brothers were the winners in Vienna, Austria, while Marin Cilic defeated Janko Tipsarevic in St. Petersburg, Russia. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are back in action this week in Basel, Switzerland, while David Ferrer and Juan Martin del Potro are in Valencia, Spain. Finally, Robin Soderling may miss the first tournament of the year in Brisbane because of mononucleosis, and the Agassi College Preparatory Academy received a donation of $18 million.
