If you didn’t see or hear about Venus Williams’ dress she wore at the French Open, it’s probably time to trade your Walkman in for an iPod. The dress she chose to wear at this year’s French Open has been questioned and talked about all over the internet. It did a good job of turning the heads of people in the crowd and distracting the ball boys.
The dress was black and red and really lacy. However, it wasn’t the fact that the dress looked like a nightgown that people talk so much about it. Under the dress, the bottoms she wore matched the color of her skin so well that it almost looked like she wasn’t wearing anything at all!
"It's really all about the illusion," Williams told reporters. "What's the point of wearing lace when there's just black under? The illusion of just having bare skin is definitely, for me, a lot more beautiful."
This is the most talked about dress that Venus has worn since that really short, lime green dress she wore at the Australian Open earlier this year. The bottoms she wore then are very similar to the ones she wore at the French Open. It’s been described as “skimpy” and “risqué.” Certainly not ways a tennis player wants to be described.
What will Williams wear at Wimbledon to save her reputation? Can she wear something classy, or will she come to play in something she found in her bedroom?
