WTA Dominates Forbes’ Highest-Paid Female Athletes List


Seven WTA players rank among the top ten highest-paid female athletes in the world, according to Forbes latest list.

Once again Maria Sharapova tops the list, with total earnings of $29.7 million, which includes $23 million due to endorsements. Serena Williams earns more prize money than any other woman at $11.6 million, but her endorsement quantity pales in comparison to that of Sharapova, leaving her with total earnings of $24.6 million.

The list compiles prize money and endorsement earnings from the period from June 2014 through June 2015. The other five WTA players to rank in the top ten are as follows:

Caroline Wozniacki ($14.6 million, $11 in endorsements), 3rd
Ana Ivanovic ($8.3 million, 6.5 in endorsements), 5th
Petra Kvitova ($7.7 million, 1.8 in endorsements), 6th
Simona Halep ($5.3 million, 1.5 in endorsements), 7th
Agnieszka Radwanska ($6 million, 4 in endorsements), 10th

Racer Danica Patrick placed fourth on the list, while fighter Ronda Rousey placed 8th and golfer Stacy Lewis placed 9th.
