Tennis Express

Marco Trungelliti, Argentina / round one opponent: Alejandro Davidovich Fokina - Remarkably the Argentine saved six match points to defeat American Aleks Kovacevic in the final round of qualifying. It's a big deal for the 31-year-old, who is playing in just his 8th main draw at a Slam.

Peter Gojowczyk, Germany / round one opponent: Ugo Humbert - 32-year-old Gojowczyk will try to win a round at the US Open for the first time since 2014. He's making his seventh main draw appearance in New York, and is ranked 141.

Chris Eubanks, USA / round one opponent: Frances Tiafoe - World No. 216 Eubanks has never won a match at a major. His first-round match with Frances Tiafoe marks his fifth main draw appearance at a Slam and third at the US Open.

Kamil Majchrzak, Poland/ round one opponent: Emil Ruusuvuori - The World No. 115 is coached by Joakim Nystrom, a former World No. 7 from Sweden. He reached the third round in New York in 2019, which is his best Grand Slam result to date.

Oscar Otte, Germany / round one opponent: round one opponent: Lorenzo Sonego - World No. 144 Otte took Andy Murray to five sets at Wimbledon this year, and he took Alexander to five sets at Roland Garros in the first round as well. He's making his main draw debut.

Botic Van de Zandschulp, the Netherlands / round one opponent: Carlos Taberner - World No. 118 is making significant strides in 2021. He made his Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open and won a round at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. He'll make his US Open debut against Taberner, the World No. 105.

Evgeny Donskoy, Russia / Romania: round one opponent: Felix Auger-Aliassime - World No. 152 Donskoy makes his ninth consecutive main draw appearance at New York. He reached the third round on his debut in 2013 and has never been back.

Quentin Halys, France / round one opponent: Dominik Koepfer - World No. 184 Halys makes his US Open debut. He's 2-10 lifetime at the majors and 6-23 lifetime on tour.

Maximilian Marterer, Germany / round one opponent: Steve Johnson - 26-year-old Marterer, ranked 209, is 0-2 lifetime at New York. He lost his only match against Steve Johnson in 2017 at Stuttgart.

Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune, Denmark / round one opponent: Novak Djokovic - 18-year-old Rune will have all eyes on him as he makes his Grand Slam debut. He's on a 13-match winning streak and became the youngest winner of a challenger title in Denmark's history earlier this year, at Bella. The World No.145, a top prospect, faces Novak Djokovic on Tuesday.

Maxime Cressy, USA / round one opponent: Pablo Carreno Busta - Cressy reached the second round at the US Open last year, before falling to Stefanos Tsitsipas. Impressed by the serve-and-volleying American, Tsitsipas called him a rare species, saying: "His game is very unorthodox to be honest with you. You don't have players like this on tour. He's a rare species of a tennis player, that's what he is."

Alex Molcan, Slovakia / round one opponent: Cam Ilkel - Molcan finished 2020 ranked 312 in the world. Now at 138 the southpaw from Presov, Slovakia is set to make his Grand Slam debut. He has gone 24-5 since May, reaching the Belgrade final and winning his first Challenger title. Clearly, he's a player on the rise.

Antoine Hoang, France / round one opponent: Marcos Giron - Hoang, ranked 150, makes his second US Open main draw appearance.

Henri Laaksonen, Switzerland / round one opponent: John Millman - The former World No. 93 reached the third round at Roland Garros this year, and is 1-2 lifetime at the US Open.

Ivo Karlovic, Croatia / round one opponent: Andrey Rublev - The 42-year-old is playing his last Grand Slam draw at the US Open. It's the 63rd Grand Slam main draw appearance for the ATP's ace king. Karlovic's best run at the US Open came in 2016 when he reached the round of 16. He's currently 223 in the world.

Cam Ilkel, Turkey / round one opponent: Alex Molcan - Ilkel makes his main draw debut at the Slams, ranked 189.
