Carlos Alcaraz is only 19 years of age, but already the rising Spaniard has developed a reputation for having one of the most complete games on the tour. A massive part of his arsenal is his drop shot and that beautiful weapon was on display on Thursday night as he defeated Marin Cilic 7-6(4), 6-1 to become the youngest quarter-finalist at the Western and Southern Open since Andy Murray in 2006.

There are special drop shots and then there are the ones like this gem from the World No.4, that go above and beyond. This one was so superb that Alcaraz didn’t even seem to believe what he'd done.

Pretty special, right down to Alcaraz’s ability to avoid getting his feet tangled up in the net.

The Spaniard moves on to face Great Britain's Cameron Norrie on Friday. He has done quite a bit of damage at the Masters 1000s of late. Already this year he has become the youngest champion in tournament history at Miami and Madrid. At the latter event he became the first player to ever defeat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic at the same clay-court tournament (and the youngest to ever defeat them both).

He is 17-3 at the Masters 1000s this year and is the only player to have won more than one.

Now at 44-8 on the season the 19-year-old appears to be hitting his stride at the right time, with the US Open around the corner.
