Can you picture Holger Rune and Nicolas Jarry mending fences while doing a Tik Tok dance? After the Dane said the following words after squandering a two sets to love lead against the Chilean on Day 1 of Wimbledon, we’re trying to picture it.

His comments are reminiscent of Aryna Sabalenka’s dismissive comments about Coco Gauff after this year’s Roland-Garros women’s singles final.

“I mean, if I play normal, I'm beating him nine out of ten times, with all respect for Nicolas Jarry. Obviously today didn't make it a lot easier with my knee, but yeah, it was not great,” the 22-year-old told press at the All England Club.

To be fair, Rune was struggling with a knee issue during the loss.

Not exactly the ultimate respect for his opponent, but Jarry, who completed a comeback from two sets to love down for the first time in his career, probably doesn’t care. The World No.143 is just thrilled to still be alive in the draw. He will face American Learner Tien in the second round.

The Chilean has been struggling with health problems, notably Vestibular Neuritis, which has led to problems with his hearing and his vision

Former World No.16 Jarry, who had to qualify for the main draw, snapped a seven match losing streak in first-round matches at the majors – he had not won a main draw match at a major since the 2023 US Open.
