16th-ranked Hubert Hurkacz ended his longtime pairing with coach Craig Boynton just prior to the US Open. It was a successful five-year partnership that solidified Hurkacz as a Top 10 player (career-high No.6) and yielded eight ATP titles, including two at the Masters 1000 level, in Miami in 2021 and Shanghai in 2023.

After taking some time to deliberate, 27-year-old Hurkacz has selected an elite coaching tandem that could help him take the next steps in his burgeoning career.

Hurkacz announced that he will work with Hall of Famer Ivan Lendl and Chilean legend Nicolas Massu in 2025. Lendl, an eight-time major champion, also coached Andy Murray to his three major titles. Massu, an Olympic gold medalist in singles and doubles at the 2004 Athens games, and a former World No.9, coached Dominic Thiem to his lone Grand Slam title.

“Having Nicolas Massu and Ivan Lendl as part of my team is an honor,” Hurkacz said in a statement. “Their knowledge and dedication inspire me to work harder than ever, and I’m ready to put in the hard work.

“I’m excited and optimistic for season 2025 and beyond. This has been a year of ups and downs; I’ve learned a lot and grown a lot, and I can finally say I am fully healthy and ready for the challenges ahead.”

Hurkacz underwent surgery on his right meniscus in July after injuring himself in a fall at Wimbledon. He returned for the North Amerian hard court swing, after being forced to miss the Paris Olympics. He finished the year with a 40-19 record but only played three matches after the US Open.

The Pole will begin his 2025 season by representing his nation at the 2025 United Cup, which commences on December 27.
