Medvedev Rides T-Time Into US Open Final

Daniil Medvedev turned the US Open semifinal into T-time.

The second-seeded Medvedev won 81 percent of his first-serve points, pumped 12 aces and dropped serve just once sweeping Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 to reach his second US Open final in the last three years.

Afterward, Auger-Aliassime said Medvedev's pin-point serving, particularly his ability to repeatedly dot the T on the deuce side, was a key stroke to his win.

The 12th-seeded Canadian called the 6'6" Russian's T serve "as good as it can get."

"Well, probably the precision mostly [makes his serve tough]," Auger-Aliassime said. "There are players out there that serve even harder. The precision was, yeah, crazy at times. Also served well whenever he needed to.

"That's one thing that we don't always pay attention as much as we should. You have great servers out there in practice or matches. Whenever you have a Love-30 or 30-All, the guy serves a great serve, it's really tough. So there's that also. He hits all the spots pretty well. Especially the T serve on deuce today was as good as it can get."
