“Amazing.”

That would sum up Elina Svitolina’s dominant performance in Saturday’s Abierto Seguro GNP semifinal against Arantxa Rus.

The Ukrainian powered past the Dutchwoman 6-0 6-1 and dropped just nine points on serve. She needed just 50 minutes to complete her victory and won 57 of the 83 points on offer in the match, breaking five times on 10 opportunities to reach her 17th career WTA final.

Svitolina has engineered quite the turnaround in Monterrey—she has won all eight sets she has played in Mexico after dropping three straight matches and six straight sets heading into the tournament.

"I was very solid from the baseline and I was serving well, so hopefully I can keep it up for the final as well,” she said on court after the match.

Up next for the World No.7 will be Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic, the 21-year-old who took down second-seeded Johanna Konta 6-3 6-4 on Saturday.

Bouzkova will bid for her fourth Top 10 win on Sunday—she defeated Svitolina in their only previous meeting last year at Guangzhou when the Ukrainian retired down 6-4 4-3.
