Danielle Collins edged Sloane Stephens to reach the last eight at the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic.

Danielle Collins edged Sloane Stephens for her seventh consecutive win at San Jose, notching a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over the former US Open champion to book her spot in the quarterfinals.

Collins overcame a 2-0 deficit in the third set, winning four straight games and six of the final seven to win her first meeting with Stephens. She will face Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina for a spot in the semis.

Rybakina, the No.2 seed, has now won 16 of her last 21 matches after rallying to defeat Claire Liu, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2. The Kazakh dropped just ten points in a dominant second set, but had to fight valiantly to break for 3-2 in the third set, converting her fourth attempt of the fifth game. From there she only dropped four more points.

Top-seeded Elise Mertens, who defeated Kristina Mladenovic 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, and Yulia Putintseva, who topped Ajla Tomljanvovic 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, also advance.
