Felix Auger-Aliassime entered this week with a sub-.500 lifetime record on clay, but the Canadian is looking to change that at the Estoril Open.
The 21-year-old World No.10 took a step in the right direction on Thursday when he rallied to notch a 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Spain's Carlos Taberner on a windy day at the Millenium Estoril Open.
Top-seeded Auger-Aliassime will square off with American Sebastian Korda next. Korda, also 21, scored a 6-3, 6-3 win over Benjamin Bonzi on Thursday.
The American improves to 13-7 lifetime on the clay.
Richard Gasquet and Sebastian Baez also came through on Thursday at Estoril, setting the stage for some incredible matchups in the quarterfinals.
