Ever since he showed up in Atlanta in 2019, Alex de Minaur has been on a tear. The 23-year-old Aussie, who won the title without facing a break point in 2019, returned to the scene of the crime after taking a two-year leave this week – and picked up right where he left off.

De Minaur defeated American Jenson Brooksby 6-3, 6-3 on Sunday to lift his sixth career title and and improve to 9-1 lifetime at the Atlanta Open.

De Minaur has won eight straight matches at the event.

The Aussie converted all four break points he saw against the 21-year-old American, as he denied Brooksby in his third career final. The Sacramento native has dropped all three of his ATP finals to date, including two this year, the other being Dallas, where he was defeated by Reilly Opelka.

Brooksby lost his first ATP final last summer at Newport.

It was a solid afternoon for De Minaur, and it has been a solid season. He improves to 32-16 on the year, and 6-4 overall in ATP finals.

De Minaur hit 17 winners against 15 unforced errors; Brooksby hit 11 winners against 21 unforced errors as he dropped to 17-13 on the season.
