The 6'7" Cressy saved eight of nine break points and won 48 of 71 trips to net to set up a round of 16 showdown vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas, the 2018 Stockholm champion, had a first-round bye.

The fifth-ranked Greek swept Cressy in straight sets in their lone prior encounter at the 2020 US Open.

Denmark's Holger Rune won nine of the last 11 games beating Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 7-5, 6-2.

Seventh-seeded Rune will play Cristian Garin in the round of 16.

Earlier, Garin won 22 of 28 net points in a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Australian qualifier Jason Kubler.
