Tommy Haas 12 Cincy Getty (August 14, 2012) --  34-year-old Tommy Haas is experiencing a convincing revival these days, and admiring fans aren't the only ones taking notice.

Mardy Fish was asked about Haas's current level of game in Cincinnati earlier in the week and he came through with this high praise for the German-born Los Angeles resident.

"Yeah, he's seeing it really well," said Fish, who lost to Haas in the semifinals of the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. a few weeks ago. "He's just confident. He's a guy that strikes the ball as clean as anyone you'll see.  Really pretty strokes.  I'm just a fan of his--just watching him play."

Haas entered Cincinnati with a ranking of No. 23, and he defeated David Nalbandian in a tight first-round match today for his 496th career win. Haas started 2012 outside the top 200, and had to qualify for the French Open. At the upcoming US Open, he'll be among the 32 seeded players.

Fish, who resides in Los Angeles, likes having the former World No. 2 living in his neck of the woods, both in terms of rankings (Fish is ranked No. 20) and on the physical map (Haas lives in L.A. too).

"Yeah, it's nice to have him back playing well," said Fish. "We practice a lot together in L.A. because he lives out there as well.  It's nice to have someone like that back that's a former No. 2 in the World.
He went three sets with [Novak] Djokovic last week in Toronto and came real close to winning D.C. and came real close to winning Hamburg. He's playing great."
