(February 18, 2010) Alla Kournikova, Anna Kournikova's 46-year-old mother, will face a felony child neglect charge.

Florida state prosecutors have formally charged Alla Kournikova with child neglect after an incident last month. Alla Kournikova was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida and briefly jailed on charges of child neglect after leaving her 5-year-old son, Allen, home alone last month.

Mrs. Kournikova allegedly left Allen home alone for more than 50 minutes while she ran errands at the bank and post office, according to a
People Magazine report.

Alla Kournikova was taken to police headquarters, charged with the third-degree felony and eventually released on a $3,000 bond.

Allen Kournikova is Anna Kournikova's half brother. Alla Kournikova is raising the child alone.

Police responded to a call from a neighbor who reported the little boy was "soaking wet and walking in front of his house, acting very upset."

When police arrive at the scene, Allen Kournikova reportedly told them "he jumped out of the second story window" of the $2 million home located in the center of Palm Beach then entered the swimming pool because his "feet hurt." The second story window is about 15 feet from the ground level, according to police on the scene. A barefoot Allen Kournikova reportedly landed in a stone-covered side of the yard between two air conditioning units, according to the People report.

"I hung by my hands before letting go," Allen told the police, adding he entered the pool because his feet hurt after landing on the pebbles.

Police called the Palm Beach Fire Rescue squad, which examined Allen and found bruising on his lower back and feet. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

When Alla Kournikova returned home she told authorities her son was "awake and sitting on the couch watching television at the time she left her home."

Mrs. Kournikova told police she dead-bolted the door and left a cell phone for her son. She said she did not take her son with her because he "did not want to go."
