The ITF announced that they have provisionally suspended an Iranian player after he chased a tournament official off the court at a Futures event in Turkey.

Majid Abedini, 29, was filmed chasing a tournament supervisor off court during his first round qualifying match against British player Imran Aswat in Antayla.

The video shows the currently unranked Abedini hitting a ball into the net and then chasing after the supervisor who quickly exits the court. After the incident, Abedini was defaulted from the match after he trailed 6-0, 2-0 to the World No. 1525 Aswat.

In a statement, the ITF said, “The ITF announced that a Notice of Investigation has been issued to Iranian tennis player Majid Abedini following an incident at the ITF Pro Circuit event in Antalya, Turkey on Sunday 17 April. Mr. Abedini has been provisionally suspended in accordance with the ITF Welfare Policy and is further subject to an investigation into a possible Player Major Offence of Aggravated Behaviour. Following this investigation, any additional sanction will be announced."

Another British player, who spoke under anonymity to the Telegraph, said that Abedini began yelling obscenities at his opponent before the court supervisor appeared on the scene.

Abedini has only won two matches in his entire career and has failed in all 66 attempts to qualify for previous Futures events.
