An already dismal season has gotten worse for former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki. Since winning her first three matches of the season, Wozniacki has gone 5-7 with five losses to players outside the Top 50. Now, she’ll head to the sidelines with an ankle injury.

The Dane, 25, announced she’ll miss next week’s Fed Cup action as well as Istanbul the following week. Wozniacki had her share of injury concerns in 2015, and it got to her mentally. After a loss to Belinda Bencic in Toronto, she had this to say.

“The WTA, they're like, ‘We want the players healthy, we want them to play at their best level at every tournament and we want to make it tough for them. And that's good. But the fact that they're pushing you to play whenever – if you are not feeling 100 percent – is not OK.”

A veteran of 40 WTA finals, and a winner of 23 titles, Wozniacki has not been back to a final since she was runner-up at Stuttgart last April.
