Last week it was Fabio Fognini making waves on the ATP Tour. This week it was another Italian by the name of Matteo Berrettini. The 23-year-old Rome resident rises 18 points to a career-high ranking of 37 in the world after claiming the Hungarian Open with a victory over Filip Krajinovic on Sunday.

Berrettini improves to 5-1 on clay this year and 17-9 lifetime and he joins Fognini (12) and Marco Cecchinato (19) to make it three Italians inside the Top 40.

Also rising in the rankings this week was Serbia’s Laslo Djere, who climbs inside the Top 30 to No.29 by reaching the semis at the Hungarian Open. Djere owns a 12-9 ranking in this his breakthrough season. He started the season at 93.

Chile’s Nicolas Jarry rises 11 spots to No.70 in the world after reaching the Barcelona quarter-finals with wins over Alexander Zverev and Grigor Dimitrov.

In the Race to London standings, Kei Nishikori climbed three spots to No.8 after reaching the semi-finals in Barcelona, while Dominic Thiem climbed two spots to No.4 after taking the title. Daniil Medvedev dropped from 5 to 6 after being passed by Thiem.
