The Iga Swiatek era has begun on the WTA Tour. The 20-year-old Polish stars rises to No.1 in today’s rankings, becoming the 28th player in WTA history to achieve the feat.

Swiatek benefits from the retirement of Ash Barty, who elected to pull herself from the WTA rankings today, but the Pole has already proven just how worthy she is by winning her last 17 matches in succession. The Doha, Indian Wells and Miami champion improved to 26-3 on the season by completing her title run at Miami on Saturday with a dominant 6-4, 6-0 win over Naomi Osaka.

Three New Career-Highs in the Top-10

Barty’s absence from the rankings caused a bit of a shuffle in the Top-10. There were three new players making new career high rankings in the Top-10, and five in total in the Top-20.

Paula Badosa rises to No.3 in the rankings, jumping three spots, while American Danielle Collins comes in at No.8 – she makes her Top-10 debut.

Another American, Jessica Pegula, rises eight spots to her new career-high of 13, while Coco Gauff jumps another two spots, the 18-year-old making a new career-high at 15.

Osaka on the Rise

Osaka wasn’t able to claim the title this weekend in Miami, but the 24-year-old four-time major champion gets a massive rankings bump from reaching the final. She rises 42 spots from 77 to 35, putting herself close to a seeding spot for Roland-Garros.
