The U.S. Open has handed out wild cards to two former champions and a former runner-up, as well as nine Americans.


On women’s side 2004 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova and 2012 and 2013 runner-up Victoria Azarenka were given main draw wild cards, along with 18-year-old Claire Liu and 16-year-old Amanda Anisimova. Whitney Osuigwe, 16, receives a wild card as a result of winning the USTA Girls 18s over the weekend in San Diego, while Asia Muhammad, 27, receives a wild card as this year’s U.S. Open wild card challenge winner.

Harmony Tan of France receives the U.S. – France reciprocal wild card, and there is one wild card left to be determined, which will go to Australia, based on the U.S. – Australia reciprocal wild card agreement.

On the men’s side Stan Wawrinka was given a main draw wild card, along with Americans 30-year-old Tim Smyczek, 20-year-old Michael Mmoh, 22-year-old Noah Rubin, 2018 USTA Boys’ 18s National Champion 17-year-old Jenson Brooksby and 2018 US Open Wild Card Challenge winner Bradley Klahn (27). Nineteen-year old Frenchman Corentin Moutet was awarded a main draw wild card by the French Tennis Federation as part of its reciprocal agreement with the USTA, and Tennis Australia awarded its reciprocal agreement main draw wild card to Jason Kubler.

Andy Murray did not receive a wild card, but will play on a provisional ranking.
