A pair of powerful players are looking to return to the court in 2014 - WTA former Top 5 Vera Zvonareva and ATP doubles player Ross Hutchins.

Hutchins is the more amazing story, having gone through six months of chemotherapy and now officially in remission after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease almost a year ago.

The 28-year-old Hutchins has won five doubles titles in his career, including three since 2011 with doubles partner Colin Fleming. He has deemed himself fit for competition in the 2014 Australian Open. Hutchins will have another reason to celebrate 2014 - he'll be marrying fiancee Lindsay at the end of the year, with friend and fellow player Andy Murray serving as his best man.

On the WTA side of things, former world No. 2 Zvonareva has begun practicing again with a return date in mind, 15 months after her last match.

A shoulder injury shut down Zvonareva after the 2012 London Olympics, and she missed the entire 2013 season. The 29-year-old Zvonareva has 12 singles titles in her career and finished the 2008-2011 seasons ranked in the Top 10, including finishing No. 2 in 2010, the season in which she went 49-17 and reached the finals of Wimbledon and the US Open.
