The Australian Open is set for January 14-27th, 2019.

The French Tennis Federation receives a pair of Australian Open wild cards from Tennis Australia in a reciprocal agreement that allocates a couple of Roland Garros wild cards to the TA.

Currently ranked No. 258, Tsonga defeated Denis Shapovalov in five sets before bowing to Nick Kyrgios in the Australian Open third round last January.

The 33-year-old Tsonga underwent knee surgery on April 3rd and missed nearly seven-and-a-half months of the season, concluding 2018 with a 5-7 record.

An unseeded Tsonga knocked off Andy Murray, Richard Gasquet and Rafael Nadal en route to the 2008  Australian Open final where he lost to Novak Djokovic.

The 619th-ranked Burel will be making her Grand Slam main-draw debut.
