Andrea Sestini Hlavackova announced she will step away from the game to give birth to her child. The former World No.3 doubles player is a two-time major doubles champion as well as a major mixed champion, a WTA Finals doubles champion and an Olympic silver Gold Medalist in doubles.

10 Things: Andrea Sestini Hlavackova

She announced the news on Instagram today, in conjunction with Czech media and WTATennis.com.

The 32-year-old has frozen her ranking and is keeping her options open for a comeback after the baby is born. She is expecting sometime this summer.

"I have no concrete plans to come back to tennis right away, but I will definitely keep my options open,” she said. “I've taken a protected ranking and will freeze it for as long as I can so I might make a better decision about whether to come back. That would only happen after our baby is born, and healthy and going through all the right things.”
