Andy Murray is still searching for the right coaching option to guide him back to the top of men’s tennis.

The Scot, who parted ways with trial coach Jan de Witt after the Australian Open, will work on a trial with former coach Daniel Vallverdu. He will share the coach with Stan Wawrinka over the upcoming weeks.

Murray has taken a wild card into the ABN Amro in Rotterdam, where he will face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the first round.

Vallverdu originally coached Murray from 2010 to 2014, the Scot winning two major titles and an Olympic gold medal during that stretch.

Vallverdu, who also coached Grigor Dimitrov from 2016 to 2019, has been with Wawrinka since 2019. He was originally part of the team that included Magnus Norman – the Swede left Wawrinka’s team in 2020.

Murray is currently ranked 102 and has not been inside the Top-100 since June of 2018. The Scot is 5-3 on the season. He reached the final in Sydney and upset Nikoloz Basilashvili, the No.21 seed, in the opening round at the Australian Open, but then fell to unseeded Taro Daniel in straight sets in the second round.
