Medvedev, Sinner Pull Out of Rotterdam

By Alberto Amalfi | Friday, February 4, 2022

Daniil Medvedev's road to the world No. 1 ranking won't run through Rotterdam.

US Open champion Medvedev and Jannik Sinner have both withdrawn from the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

Former world No. 1 Andy Murray and Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga replace the pair as wild-card recipients into Rotterdam, which starts next Saturday.

Medvedev, who trails Novak Djokovic by 890 points in the ATP rankings, will take additional time to rest and recover following his epic five-set loss to Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final on Sunday.

The second-ranked Russian is next scheduled to play the Abierto Mexicano Telcel tournament in Acapulco starting on February 21st. Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal, Stefano Tsitsipas, Matteo Berrettini and Alexander Zverev are also entered into the ATP 500 event in Acapulco.
