A nagging back injury forced Paula Badosa to retire from Dubai in tears.

It's the latest injury setback for the former Indian Wells champion, who suffered fractured vertebrae in her back during Rome last May.

Today, former world No. 2 Badosa said full recovery will be a process, but vows she will not quit.

"I want to thank all the people who have been sending me messages of support during this very difficult time for me," Badosa posted on social media. "It is being a long process, but what I am sure of is that I am not going to give up."

The 26-year-old Spaniard, who pulled the plug on her 2023 season after retiring from the Wimbledon second round last summer, has posted a 4-5 record in 2024.
