Tomas Berdych is one of the few players that has been able to stifle Roger Federer on the Grand Slam stage more than once. And he tells reporters in Melbourne that he likes his chances to do it again on Tuesday night when the pair meet in their quarterfinal match on Rod Laver Arena.

That said, Berdych has a healthy respect for the 17-time major champion. He knows what he’s in for on Tuesday when the pair meet for the 22nd time.

“Yeah, I think he's playing really well, especially in the last season,” Berdych said. “He's become a very, very dangerous opponent, as always he is. I mean, it's always difficult to say something else or something new. I mean, it's Roger, so it's always going to be a huge challenge to play him. It's the quarterfinal of a slam.

“Yeah, I like it. I like my chances. I'm just looking forward to that match.”

Though most consider Federer the heavy favorite, Berdych has won the last two matches the pair has played at majors. He defeated Federer in quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2010 and the U.S. Open in 2012.

Federer owns a 15-6 edge overall, and has taken the last four meetings and the last eight sets against Berdych.
