Garbine Muguruza reached her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon last summer and won 12 of her final 14 matches to end the 2015 season with a career-best ranking of No. 3.

So what does the 22-year-old Spaniard have in mind for an encore?

Muguruza will try to chase down world No. 1 Serena Williams and mix it up with Rafael Nadal.

Muguruza fell to Williams in the Wimbledon final, but hopes she can dent the 21-time Grand Slam champion's dominance.

"I'm really motivated this year, it's really great to be starting the year as No. 3," Muguruza told the media in Brisbane where she launches her 2016 campaign. "Serena is still dominating. We've seen the whole year when she won, it's very difficult to beat her but at some point, maybe it's going to change.

"I mean, she's been there for a lot of years, so let's see. For now, she’s still dominating."

Nadal has welcomed the prospect of partnering Muguruza in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, an opportunity she calls "amazing."

"Well, that will be amazing," Muguruza said. "(Spanish captain) Conchita (Martinez) is the one who decides at the end who's playing the mixed doubles. But definitely if I have the opportunity it's great to play with Rafa. It's very good."
