Djokovic: Big 4 Still Slam Favorites

The Big 4 will continue to dominate the four Grand Slams, says world No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

The Big 4—Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Djokovic—have combined to capture 32 of the last 35 Grand Slam titles.

Since 2010 only two other men—Stan Wawrinka and Marin Cilic—have broken through Big 4 dominance to win major titles.

Djokovic, who is aiming for a record seventh Australian Open championship this month, sees Big 4 major dominance continuing—if the core four stay healthy.

"I think if we are healthy and playing well, the four guys still have probably the best chance to always win Slams," Djokovic told the media in Doha where he is the top seed at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open.

The 31-year-old Serbian, who wrapped up the season-ending top spot for the fifth time at the end of 2018, made history as the oldest year-end No. 1 in ATP history.

Alexander Zverev knocked off Roger Federer and Djokovic in succession to win the season-ending Nitto ATP Finals. Djokovic says Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Borna Coric are on the cusp of major breakthroughs.

"It's a matter of time when we will see some of them competing in the last stages of Grand Slams," Djokovic said.
