Andy Murray, the 2017 Dubai champion, will also return as he continues his comeback from hip surgery. Murray upset Federer in his 2008 Dubai debut.

Former US Open champion Marin Cilic, Brisbane winner Kei Nishikori, Karen Khachanov, Borna Coric and Stefanos Tsitsipas have all committed to the field.

On the women's side, world No. 1 Simona Halep and two-time defending champion Elina Svitolina lead the field. Svitolina joined Venus Williams and Justin Henin as the only women to successfully defend Dubai.

Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki, US Open champion Naomi Osaka, Petra Kvitova and Daria Kasatkina are all scheduled to play in the women's tournament, set for February 17-23rd.
