Practice makes perfect and the perfect practice makes Karolina Pliskova want more.

Pliskova practiced with Donna Vekic before the Brisbane International. The friends will face off again for a place in the Brisbane final.

The fifth-seeded Czech pounded 14 aces dispatching Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1, charging into her third straight Brisbane semifinal. Vekic demolished Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 6-2, 6-0, in a 56-minute thrashing.

Their opening-week success has Pliskova already planning more practice sessions with Vekic.

"I played super-amazing in the practice," Pliskova said. "And she was laughing about it. I think the second set was a little bit close like 3-all or something like this. But I played great. And I think she played all the three matches very well. I saw a little it of the match today.

"And she killed Sasnovich so I said we always have to practice before the tournament because then we always both play well. She's a good player. I think the last half year she's improved so much. I feel like she's going more up and up not only with the ranking but with the way she plays...We played in Tokyo, it was a great match, so for sure I'm looking forward to it."

The former world No. 1 fought off Vekic, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, en route to capturing the Tokyo title last fall.

The winner of the Pliskova vs. Vekic match will face either US Open champion Naomi Osaka or Lesia Tsurenko in the final.
