Serena Williams reunited with reported former flame Grigor Dimitrov for a spirited hitting session on Rod Laver Arena.

The pair embraced and exchanged smiles and some small talk before trading baseline blows.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion, who is playing to equal Margaret Court's all-time record by claiming her 24th major in Melbourne, was reportedly involved with Dimitrov prior to his two-year relationship with Maria Sharapova, which ended in 2015.

The Australian Open invited fans to comment on the reunion with a "caption this" exchange on Facebook.

Both Serena and Dimitrov are long-time Nike and Wilson endorsers. Serena's coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, previously worked with the Bulgarian. Both Dimitrov and Williams have found their own love matches after parting.

Seven-time Australian Open champion Serena married Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian on December 29th, 2016 in New Orleans. Dimitrov has been dating pop star Nicole Scherzinger and dedicated his 2017 ATP Finals championship victory to her.
