Second Serve

Daniil Medvedev is very hot under the collar during his Australian Open semifinal against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Watch as Medvedev lays into umpire Jaume Campistol because he wants Tsitsipas to be called for a coaching violation.

Here we see Medvedev going ballistic on the umpire, and receiving a code violation for visible obscenity.

“Bro, Are you mad?” Medvedev asks, adding: “For what? And his father can talk every point. No, are you stupid? His father can talk every point. HIS FATHER CAN TALK EVERY POINT! HIS FATHER CAN TALK EVERY POINT! ANSWER MY QUESTION!”

Later, after the blowout at the changeover, Medvedev called the umpire a “small cat.”

“Do you understand Greek?” he asks Campistol. “So next time it should be a code violation, because he’s speaking Greek. If you don’t – how can I call it? – you are a small cat,” said the linguist.

It should be noted that Tsitipas has already been fined twice for receiving coaching from his father during the Australian Open, once in the third round and once in the fourth round.

Tsitsipas and Medvedev have split the first two sets. We recommend making a pot of coffee and keeping it tuned to this battle.
