Second Serve

It was a banner week for several players across the tours, and they’ve got new career-high rankings to prove it. Let us start with the ATP Tour, where Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime jumped two spots to a career-high No.9 in the ranking.

Tennis Express

The 21-year-old notched the best win of his career by ranking when he defeated Alexander Zverev at the ATP Cup (his first Top 5 win) and he finished his week off by knocking off Roberto Bautista Agut to clinch the ATP Cup for Canada – a very special week indeed.

The biggest riser inside the ATP’s Top 100 was American Maxime Cressy, who rises 37 spots to make his Top 100 debut at No.75 on the back of his final appearance at Melbourne, where he lost to Rafael Nadal.

The gifted serve-and-volleyer began the week at 112.

Also rising more than ten spots: Slovakia’s Alex Molcan (88 to 74) and Sweden’s Mikael Ymer (94 to 82).

Russia’s Roman Safiullin jumped 21 spots to a career-high No.146 thanks to a stellar performance at ATP Cup.

WTA Rankings: Halep Back in Top-15

On the women’s side, Simona Halep started her climb in the direction of the Top-10 by winning the title at Melbourne Summerset 1. The Romanian, who has announced her stated goal of finishing the season in the Top-10, is already half way there – she rises from 20 to 15 as a result of her title (d. Kudermetova in the final).

Halep was the biggest riser in the Top-50.

Denmark’s Clara Tauson (44- to 41) and USA’s Ann Li (47 to 44) rose to career-high rankings, while American Amanda Anisimova (78 to 61) was the biggest jumper inside the WTA’s Top-100. The 21-year-old former World No.21 claimed the Melbourne Summerset 2 title, defeating Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the final

Ash Barty continues to ride high as the WTA's No.1

Aussie Ash Barty has held the No.1 ranking for 110 weeks and her reign is likely to continue into the foreseeable future. The Aussie claimed the Adelaide title on Sunday, defeating Elena Rybakina in the final.

Barty has held the No.1 ranking for 103 consecutive weeks, since September 9, 2019, a streak that trails only four WTA players:

Stefanie Graf, 186
Serena Williams, 186
Martina Navratilova, 156
Chris Evert, 113

Barty is seventh on the WTA's all-time weeks at No.1 list. She will pass legendary Justine Henin (117) in two months.
