The USTA announced on Tuesday that the US Open will increase its overall prize money purse to a record $46.3 million dollars. That is a 10 percent increase from last year’s event.

As a result, the final Grand Slam of the year will award the most prize money ever offered at any of the four majors.

“We are proud that this year’s US Open will offer the richest purse in tennis history,” said USTA Chairman of the Board and President Katrina Adams. “We continue to invest in all aspects of this world-class event to provide the best services and experiences for the players, our fans, and all of the US Open partners.”

Singles champions for both men and women will each earn $3.5 million dollars. A first round loser in the singles will pocket a minimum of $43,300. In the doubles, each champion team will collect $625,000. The US Open qualifying tournament will award a total of $1.9 million dollars to participants.

Also on Tuesday, the US Open revealed on Twitter what the new completed retractable roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium will look like when it is put into use at this year’s event.

The US Open will start on August 23rd.
