Second Serve - A Tennis Now Blog

Second Serve

Drama had built to a crescendo on No.1 Court on Friday at Wimbledon. Venus Williams, the oldest woman in the singles draw, and Daria Kasatkina, the youngest, were fighting tooth and nail and wrestling for control of the match.

But rain took hold and sent them packing. With Williams holding a second match point as Kasatkina served at 6-7, the rain increased its already tight grip on the 2016 Championships.

They were sent off to ponder what might become the longest match point in Wimbledon history.

And the look on Williams face as the grounds crew stormed the court to pull the tarps says it all: Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

Kasatkina is serving at 6-7, 30-40 in set three. Stay tuned for a full report on this match when it concludes.
