It is the just the second meeting between traditional Fed Cup powers since 1985.

The United States leads Australia 9-5 in its head-to-head series, including a 4-0 victory on clay at the Pat Rafter Arena in Brisbane in 2016.

The Czech Republic will play host to Romania in the opener.

The Czechs have beaten Romania in both prior encounters, in 1980 and 2016.

France, which beat Belgium in the 2017 opening round, 3-2, will travel to Belgium for the 2019 opener.

Germany, which edged host Belarus, 3-2, in the 2017 first round, will host Belarus in February.

The Czech Republic will contest its sixth final in the last eight years when it hosts the United States in the November 10-11th Fed Cup final set for hard court at the O2 Arena in Prague.

This will be the 13th clash between the two nations with the 30-time finalist USA holding a 10-2 lead in the head-to-head series.

The United States is playing for a record-extending 19th Fed Cup championship.
