Murray: Hopefully Get Back to Singles Soon

Andy Murray is excited to play doubles with brother Jamie Murray in Washington, DC next week and hopes it's another step forward to an eventual singles return.

The three-time Grand Slam champion took to Twitter to confirm his doubles reunion with Jamie Murray—and express hope he will return to singles competition soon.

"I'm going to be competing in Washington next week in the doubles with my brother Jamie," Andy Murray said. "Obviously, very excited to be on the court with him, also to go back to Washington, a city I've always enjoyed visiting.

"It should be fun and I'm hoping to have a good summer over in the States, keep progressing physically and hopefully get back on the singles court soon."

The 32-year-old Murray underwent hip resurfacing surgery following his Australian Open exit and has been building his fitness since then in training and on the doubles court.

Last month, Andy Murray partnered Feliciano Lopez to the Queen's Club doubles championship. Murray and French partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert lost in the second round of Wimbledon.

Murray has previously ruled out a US Open singles return, but has said he hopes to play singles sometime after the US Open.

"I hope at some stage this year I would be able to get back to playing singles again," Murray said. "I'm not really interested in putting a time limit on it because I'm quite happy just now."
