Freedoms are Vegas Bound:

The Philadelphia Freedoms became the first to wrap up their World Team Tennis playoff plans on Saturday, and they didn’t even have to play to do it.

The Freedoms will be in attendance at Orleans Arena in Vegas when the playoffs begin next week, but three spots are still up for grabs, with the Springfield Lasers in line to clinch next.

Springfield Falls to Kyrgios and Kastles

The Lasers could not get it done on Saturday as they were stopped by Nick Kyrgios and the Washington Kastles, 23-20. The Aussie making his 2019 WTT debut, teamed with Bruno Soares to defeat Jean Julien Rojer and Enrique Lopez Perez in the doubles, and Kyrgios also clinched the victory in extended play, after falling to Lopez Perez 5-4 in the singles.

Jennifer Brady’s 5-1 win over Anna Blinkova was the match that really opened the door for the Kastles.

Empire Stay in the Hunt

The New York Empire improved to 6-5 in the season and remained in a tie for fourth place with the San Diego Aviators on the strength of a 22-18 win over the Orlando Storm.

Ulises Blanch and Kirsten Flipkens were the heroes for the Storm—Blanch took out Evan King 5-2 in singles while Flipkens finished the victory with a 5-2 triumph over Wimbledon quarter-finalist Alison Riske.

Vegas Jumps to Fifth

The Vegas Rollers moved from seventh place to fifth with a 17-16 win over the Orange County Breakers, as Asia Muhammad and Sam Querrey clinched the hard-fought win with a mixed victory over Luke Bambridge and Andreja Klepac.

The Rollers avenged a loss to the Breakers earlier in the week.
