Wozniacki Questions Hawk-Eye in Wimbledon Loss

Caroline Wozniacki suggests Hawk-Eye was suffering blurry vision during her third-round Wimbledon loss.

The former world No. 1 roared out to a 4-0 lead and had three game points to extend her lead to 5-0, but Shuai Zhang rallied to roar through 12 of the final 14 games in a 6-4, 6-2 triumph.

Winless in five prior Wimbledon appearances, Zhang reached a Grand Slam round of 16 for the first time since her surge to the 2016 Australian Open quarterfinals.

Midway through the second set, Wozniacki was fuming after a Zhang shot she felt was clearly out was ruled in by Hawk-Eye.

"That ball is not even close to being halfway on the line," Wozniacki told the chair umpire. "It was out...It's so ridiculous. This is absurd."

Wozniacki's husband, former NBA all star David Lee, even questioned Hawk-Eye from the support box of No. 2 Court.

Afterward, Wozniacki told the media the chair umpire agreed with her that Hawk-Eye was in error.

"Yeah, he was (agreeing with me)," Wozniacki said. "He saw it differently (than Hawk-Eye) and the linesmen saw it differently, as well. But then again, there's nothing you can do about it. It is what it is."

Wozniacki said she was told Hawk-Eye would be checked after the match though given her departure that doesn't help her cause.

"I mean, at this point it doesn't matter. It is what it is," Wozniacki said. "Maybe the Hawk Eye was right. Maybe I just saw it wrong. I don't know.

"But you trust Hawk-Eye normally. You trust that it tells you the right thing. Sometimes you do see the balls a little differently than what the Hawk-Eye is. At least you know, okay, you can get it out of your mind. I do believe that it was not in the ideal place today."
