USTA Serves Up Free Online Summer Camp

Coronavirus has stopped the sport and school.

It won't stop tennis summer camp.

Federer: Closer to Retirement

The USTA today announced the first-ever Net Generation online summer camp, set for July 20-24th via the USTA’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

The free online camp will host two 30-minute daily sessions—one in the morning and the second in the afternoon—focusing on building athletic skills, character development and tennis fundamentals.

“We couldn’t be more excited to host Net Generation Virtual Summer Camp, giving more kids from coast to coast the opportunity and access to learn and play tennis at home for free,” said Craig Morris, USTA’s Chief Executive, Community Tennis. “Since the pandemic, the USTA and various sports across the county have been able to engage with key audiences in creative ways through the power of social media. As a result of that, we are proud to champion the inaugural Net Generation Virtual Summer Camp and provide families with healthy, fun, and safe activities to enjoy this summer."

The USTA is partnering with the USOPC along with the national governing bodies of USA Football, PGA of America (part of USA Golf), U.S. Soccer, USA Baseball, and U.S. Figure Skating, to enhance each day of the camp. Each day will include a section for multi-sport play, featuring special guests from their respective sports.

The USTA is also partnering with Nemours Children's Health System to showcase important nutritional information, designed to help campers stay healthy and hydrated. The camp will feature delicious and healthy snack recipes that the kids will be able to follow at home.

The virtual summer camp will incorporate Net Generation’s curriculum of games and drills that can be easily modified for beginner, intermediate and advanced players so all members of the family can join the fun at home.

Camp registration is free by visiting netgeneration.com/virtualsummercamp.

The USTA says "There will be fun surprises, professional tennis player appearances, giveaways and prizes given out throughout the Camp week."

All registered campers will also receive a digital activity book via e-mail. To follow along on social media, please use #NetGeneration and visit USTA’s Facebook page and Twitter handle.
