Wozniacki: Azarenka Deserved Wimbledon Seed

Caroline Wozniacki says Serena Williams isn't the only Grand Slam champion deserving of a Wimbledon seed.

Wozniacki said two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka should have been seeded too.

Cibulkova: Serena's Selective Seeding Treatment

Seven-time Wimbledon winner Serena is seeded 25th in the Wimbledon draw. Currently ranked No. 183, Williams was not seeded at Roland Garros.

The 87th-ranked Azarenka reached the Wimbledon fourth round last year, bowing to Simona Halep.

"I'm not sure exactly what they base their seedings off of, because in my opinion, I think Azarenka deserves to be seeded, as well," Wozniacki told the media after defeating Johanna Konta in Eastbourne. "But, you know, I don't know why Serena is seeded 25 and not 24 or 16 or 32."

The All England Club's seeding committee reserves the right to adjust seedings based on past grass-court results to produce a balanced draw.

"I don't know if they have a system or not or if they just, you know, sit and then discuss," Wozniacki said. "But, you know, I think Wimbledon has always been the tournament that, you know, kind of have done their own thing. I think Serena deserves to be seeded and she got her seed."

World No. 32 Dominika Cibulkova, who would have been seeded No. 32, but was bumped from a seed by Williams' elevation, suggested the 23-time Grand Slam champion was given preferential treatment.

Williams sent a message of intent on social media.
