Second Serve

A few weeks ago, American Coco Gauff became the youngest player to win a match at a Grand Slam (qualifying or main draw) since 1995 when she won her first round of qualifying. Gauff would lose her next match in Paris, but the 15-year-old is back at it at Wimbledon.

On Tuesday she took out World No.94 Aliona Bolsova of Spain 6-3 6-4 and became the youngest player to defeat a Top 100 player at a Grand Slam since a 14-year-old Martina Hingis (1995 US Open) in the process.

Gauff, who is currently ranked 301, was the youngest player at the juniors last year at Wimbledon and fell in the quarter-finals.

She will face Valentyna Ivakhnenko of Russia in the second round of qualifying. The 25-year-old, like Gauff, has never been past the second round of qualifying at a major.

Update: Gauff notched a 6-2 6-3 win over Ivakhnenko on Wednesday at Wimbledon.

Gauff had to dig out of 0-40 holes while serving for the opening set at 5-3 and while serving for the match at 5-4.
