Novak: Stan Lived Up to Name

Novak Djokovic was one of millions of tennis fans enthralled by Stan Wawrinka's epic five-set triumph over Stefanos Tsitsipas on Sunday.

Watching Wawrinka deny all eight break points he faced in the final set of a grueling five hour, nine-minute conquest led the world No. 1 to one conclusion: Stan is still the Man.

"Stan is showing why he's 'the man', " Djokovic said with a smile.  "He's three-time Grand Slam winner. We cannot forget that. He's a top guy, and he loves to play big matches. It's great to see him back...

"He's mentally very strong. I'm not surprised that he's back at his best."

Djokovic, who fell to Wawrinka in the 2015 Roland Garros final when the strong-willed Swiss whipped 60 winners to snap the Serbian's 28-match winning streak, said he was moved watching the emotional embrace at net between Wawrinka and Tsitsipas.

"I mean, both of them were winners," Djokovic said. "I mean, both of these guys produced some amazing tennis in phenomenal atmosphere and fighting spirit and respect to each other, which is great to see in the end at the net how they embraced each other, which is beautiful. "
