Watch: Sliderman Spikes Net Duel

A band celebrated Hall of Famer and rock star Yannick Noah's return as French Davis Cup captain, but Gael Monfils stole the show.

Day 1 Recap: Berdych Battles Back

Watch Sliderman soar to spike set point and end a nose-to-nose net duel with Canada's Frank Dancevic.

Rule No. 1: Never drop shot Monfils in front of his fans.

Rule No. 2: If you try lobbing one of the game's great leapers, here's what happens.

The athletic eruption prompts Noah, one of the most explosive athletes to ever play the game, to leap from his seat and throw a double fist pump at about the 25-second mark of this video.

Monfils swept Dancevic 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 for his eighth straight Davis Cup victory.

Gilles Simon overcame a sluggish start defeating Vasek Pospisil, 7-5, 6-3, 6-3 to stake host France to a 2-0 lead against a depleted Canadian squad that's without singles No. 1 Milos Raonic and veteran doubles standout Daniel Nestor.

A soggy day got off to a rousing start courtesy of the band in Guadeloupe.
