Tick, tock: David Ferrer is turning back the clock.

The 36-year-old recorded his first Top 3 win since 2014 on Saturday night in Miami as he battled back from a set down to take down Alexander Zverev 2-6 7-5 6-3.

Ferrer, who is set to play his final ATP match in early May at Madrid, snagged his fifth win of the season against three losses and improved to 34-16 lifetime at the Miami Open. The 2013 runner-up will next face American Frances Tiafoe for a spot in the round of 16.

"It means a lot," said Ferrer, according to ATPWorldTour.com. "It's a special day because it's the last year of professional tennis for me. Winning these type of matches against a Top 10 player like Sascha is a gift. I'm very happy and I'm trying to enjoy every point and every moment.”

Ferrer saved the only break point he faced in the final set and converted two breaks to close out the hard-fought victory and snap a four-match losing streak at tour-level against Zverev.

"My motivation is playing at a high level and be competitive. It's my goal. I can't play at my best level anymore, but I want to have good energy and play my best in every match."
