When we think of tennis records, names like Roger Federer, Martina Navratilova and Steffi Graf usually come up. Parkes, New South Wales, Australia just joined the club.

Last week, 772 residents of the town came together on one of the city's main streets to break the Guinness Book World Record for most people simultaneously bouncing tennis balls on racquets in one location. The previous record of 658 was set in New York City prior to the 2011 US Open.

The Australian event was concocted and supervised by Aussie former WTA player Alicia Molik as well as resident Parkes tennis coach Helen Magill.

To count as the record, every person had to bounce the ball on a racket for at least 10 consecutive seconds. Of the 772 in attendance, 709 performed the feat.
