The former World No. 7 officially closed the curtain on her 20-year pro career with a tweet, calling the occasion "no big deal."

Schnyder expressed her gratitude for her pro career, writing "let's try something new."

Schnyder initially retired at the 2011 Roland Garros. She started playing Challenger events again in 2015.

This season, Schnyder won three rounds of qualifying to reach the US Open main draw, bowing to 22nd-seeded Maria Sharapova.

Born in Basel, Roger Federer's hometown, Schnyder concludes her career with 11 singles and 5 doubles championships.
